About me | Fotokurs Mallorca

My way to this day

Mallorca is my home

When I was 21 years old, I felt in love with the beautiful island of Mallorca during a vacation. 2 years later I broke off my tents in Germany and pitched on the sunny island forever. I’ve never looked back. Mallorca has been my home for almost 30 years.

"Words are never enough when what has to be said overwhelms the soul"
J.Cortázar

With one of the happiest moments of my life, the birth of my daughter 26 years ago, I discovered my love for photography. That was in analogue times (film). There was no internet nor private photo courses in any place.  The only way in that time was to study it through the professional education. And of course, in those days there were no private photo courses in Mallorca.

So I found my passion to teach before I started working as a professional photographer in Mallorca. I just had to share everything that fascinated me with it.

For 15 years now I have been helding the courses in the following languages: Spanish, English and German

Since 10 years I am a professional full-time photographer and I cannot accept fixed course dates. The courses take place dynamically according to my and your availability. About 3 to 10 courses a year are possible.

Favourite quotes from "old school"photographers from the past century

„The fact that a technically faulty photograph can be emotionally more effective than a flawless image, will seem shocking to those who are naive enough to believe that the technical perfection constitutes the true value of a photograph.
Andreas Feininger

Anyone can take pictures. Even a machine. But not everyone can watch. Photography is art only in so far as to use the art of observing. Observation is an elementary poetic process. The reality must be shaped, it wants to speak and reveal.
Friedrich Dürrematt

To photograph is to hold one’s breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It’s at that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy. It is putting one’s head, one’s eye and one’s heart on the same axis.
Henri Cartier-Bresson

It’s been said that the role of the artist is to teach us to see and that’s true. However, the role of other artists is to teach me how they see. To learn how I see is somethig that cannot be taught but must be learned.
Brooks Jensen

What’s really important is to simplify. The work of most photographers would be improved immensely if they could do one thing: get rid of the extraneous. If you strive for simplicity, you are more likely to reach the viewer.
William Albert Allard

You don’t make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.
Ansel Adam
